I am taking dinner to a friend who is moving this weekend. I was looking for some new ideas. What do you like to take when you are bringing dinner to someone whose kitchen is a sea of boxes and paper?

Default Dinner ideas for moving

Stewed Prunes
Instant Coffee (full-on Latte if you’ve got the time or real need)
Coffee Ice Cream w/chunks o’ real coffee

Seriously, why not just do delivery. What are you gonna serve it in? Whether it’s your stuff or theirs, it’s just more mess, more clutter, and more fuss to serve it . Where will the containers be washed, and by whom…just more unnecessary work and waste of time, no? Save the time and energy and spend the extra time relaxing and reminiscing.

Plenty of times later to cook full on meals.

I have no problem bringing food in my containers and then bringing them home with me to wash and my friends would be very disappointed if I brought in delivery. On one move we made, my SIL came over and made homemade pizza in my just moved into that day kitchen. It didn't bother me at all - it was a lovely gesture.

Sub sandwiches. Any leftovers can be eaten the next day, even if the kitchen is still unpacked.

A roasting pan with a nice chuck roast and carrots and potatoes and a little onion on one side. A one container meal. And don't forget the paper plates and napkins and plastic ware. Even a roll of paper towels and take real utensils for a nicer look.

corn on the cob (husk, rub each ear with butter, sprinkle with S&P, wrap in wax paper and cook in the microwave at the same time/power as baked potatoes), ham steak, and a big tossed salad, a crusty loaf of bread, and makings for ice cream sundaes.

When you move, you have to order pizza. It's the law.

BBQ Chicken or Ribs, some spicy slaw, corn on the cob and peach pie and enough to be lunch for the next day.
