You know, I really haven't heard many people around here dissing McDonald's or fast food in general.

I eat at McDonald's a few times a year, usually for breakfast. Love their Sausage McMuffin and hash browns. I eat fast food a couple times a month.

The only time I'll diss someone for fast food is if they feed it to their kids more than once a week. Bad habits like that are hard to break, and a terrible thing to saddle your kid with.

Oooooh I forgot about their hashbrowns. I love those too but I don't divulge anymore...600 calories apiece. I couldn't get past the massive guilt I felt.

I also do agree with your statement above about children and fast food. It should be a treat, not the norm. I remember growing up (strangely I did NOT like Mickey D's as a kid but I did love Taco Bell (and still do). I remember when we went to Taco Bell it was such a treat because my parents were very strict about what we ate. I remember loving the bell beefers and the taco grande. Both are gone now...probably just as well...

I'm mostly a foodie as well.
But McDonalds sausage egg Mcmuffins SO hit the spot for breakfast occasionally!

I'm of the opinion that there is no such thing as bad food, but there is definitely such a thing as a bad diet. Something like McDonalds, or pizza, or steak, or whatever occasionally is just fine. And tasty.

This x 2.

I go to McDonalds maybe once every two months and usually just order a biscuit or sandwich minus the potatoes and drink.

Big Macs and McDoubles are pretty good and nutritionally, not much worse than burgers I make at home. But they're cheaper than buying all the ingredients at the grocery store and MUCH easier than cleaning hamburger grease out of my kitchen afterwards.

For breakfast, a plain old Mickey D's biscuit with a packet of strawberry preserves is a treat.

Not a big fast food fan...but Mcd's coffee is good. Sometimes I'll get the egg white Mcmuffin. Good

I've noticed in recent years it seems "hip" to hate on fast food and be a food snob. Probably because eating out seems to be something people do in excess. Growing up in the 80's & the 90's it seemed like my family and everyone I knew always ate home. It wasn't common like it is now.

I get it, though. FF is bad for you, and we also try to avoid it. At times we might go to Wendy's, I love their burgers. We also don't go around blasting our opinions on it. But I've noticed with certain family members or friends, it seems cool to announce that you wouldn't be caught dead eating at those places, and every other sentence is organic this or paleo that.

Also if we are with someone who wants to go to McD's, that's fine by us. We can eat there, no complaints. But his mother likes to go on and on and put it down and behave like she's too good to go there. She complains about it excessively, where as sure, we don't care for it but we don't see the need to be so vocal about it, nor do we put down others who choose to go there on a weekly basis.

But it's not necessarily where I am - I know people all over who do this (see it on FB, people where I used to live, etc) I'm not sure why people are more vocal about it now unless it's because people eat out more, maybe people are more health conscious, or because there are more diet plans out there people like to follow, etc.

Yes~ there are a lot of food snobs out there that go on and on about how bad fast food is for you and how they never would eat it. What is amazing to me is how many of them and how often I run across them at McDonalds, Wendy's and burger king. And yes, I eat fast food quite often.
