I won't be surprised if you can't, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I've googled a number of different descriptions, to no avail.

They're a type of "stroopwaffel" cookie, two thin butter waffle-type cookies with a layer of chocolate (dark, white, or hazelnut) spread between the two layers. The ideal way to eat this cookie is to place it over your cup/mug of tea or coffee so that the warmth melts the chocolate. Now-defunct Borders used to carry them at the checkout counter, and DH and I would each get one (individually packaged there) when we'd go to their little cafe shop. The name was "Queen Anne" or something like that.

Then, about 2 years ago, I found them at Wegmans, sold in boxes. Unfortunately, that store no longer carries them, and I can't find them elsewhere. I thought I'd give it a shot here, though I won't be surprised if no one knows as this apparently was not a popular cookie.

Interestingly, we're not generally fans of boxed cookies, but loved these as a special treat.

Thanks, in advance.

I know Trader Joe's carries caramel stroopwaffels. Maybe they also have chocolate so if you live near a TJ's you might look there.

I think I saw something like this at ALDI today. Of course, I didn't see your post til I got home, so I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for, but worth a shot. If you're near an ALDI, that is.

They're called "Lady Walton's". I see them all over the place here...under various other names as well.

Until you find the cookie mentioned in your quest...why not try Pepperidge Farm Milano Cookies. They sound pretty close to what you describe, but the cookies in this product are not waffle-like..more like thin, crispy teacakes of the Southern variety. There is chocolate in the middle and hazelnuts, I believe.

I used to own a gift basket business, and I think what you are talking about is Lady Walton cookies. Though I don't remember them making a hazelnut.

Another alternative that I think tastes better is Rip Van Wafels. I've only tasted the caramel, and they are outstanding.

Thanks, that's it! Although I couldn't recall the name, I knew I'd recognize it. Looks like I got my titles mixed up lol.

Thanks, also, to those who offered other suggestions; we'll be sure to try them.

the Lady Waltons sound pretty special. I wouldn't mind trying one if they were easier to find.
