My local fish market has Spanish mackerel for about a dollar a pound more than the Boston mackerel. I was wondering if there was something I was missing, flavor wise. The Spanish ones are bigger, but I've always ate the Boston ones. I bought a small Boston today, fileted, was like $3.45.
mackerel are strong tasting fish, i like em smoked...
if you cook the fillets, take off the skin and any darkish oily skin spots,, id lightly bread the fillets and bake,,,squeeze some lemon over as you bake..
