I plan on grilling some sirloin pork steaks and having it with peach salsa on the side. I have left over baked taters from last nights supper that I will probably make into steak fries either in rounds or spears.
All locally grown and raised: grilled center cut pork chops, grilled corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, and choice of blueberry or raspberry short cake with a little real whip crème (local heavy cream beaten in a chilled bowl with sugar added). To drink: water, coffee, or ice tea. Any leftovers are tomorrow's lunch. (:
A non-fat blackberry Greek yogurt, 2 toasted slices of whole wheat bread with strawberry preserves and a large mug of tea with a teaspoon of sugar and a bit of skim milk.
Tonight's dinner will be rigatoni topped by a sauce to which I will add some meat, mushrooms, and onion. Small salad or possibly cottage cheese on the side. Beverage will be either a glass of red wine or possibly a Sierra Nevada beer (not sure yet).
I am cooking turkey necks......I read that they are an old time southern favorite. Cheap too!
I simmered them for about 3 hours in water and broth seasoned with pepper, garlic, onion, season salt, garlic salt and onion powder...with celery stalks and carrot. *
Now I have them in a pyrex baking dish....with other carrots.....baking in the oven.....will serve with rice and peas.
*The broth was fairly salty so I removed the necks......and put them in a diluted broth in a smaller pan to finish before transferring them to the oven. They do smell good and old timey! (My DP doesn't seem too excited about the menu....but what can I do.)
