It's a rare hot late September day here. To celebrate summer's last hurrah it will be lobsters and steamers tonight!
It's bee a rainy cool weekend here. The high yesterday was 46deg, maybe 50 today.
I'm thinking of making roast whole duck with a maple-bourbon glaze. Waterfowl and upland game open soon so I need to get through last years hunt harvest.
Long drive up & back to Penn Dutch country today to attend a memorial service. Well fed at lunchtime and have decided to skip dinner and just drink water to get the sodium out of my system -- my ankles are cankles!

After a kitchen disaster* this morning I am going for frozen mac & cheese and a bit of salad.
*Hubby and I were just sitting in the family room reading on a quiet Sunday morning when suddenly a kitchen cabinet burst open and bottles and jars bounced off the granite countertop onto to the tile floor. The top shelf of the cabinet had given way and whoosh!
Balsamic vinegar, Liquid Smoke, Tahini, and beef bouillon granules along with shattered glass bottles were all in a slurry on my kitchen floor. It took me hours to clean it up. Of course Deuxdad wanted to lick up all the beefy goodness, glass shards included.
Somehow during the process I have injured my back. Probably another ruptured disc.
I had a mixture of vegetarian and Cincinnati chilis with beans and some cheddar from Hard Times Cafe.
