It is rainy and chilly here and we've all had a rough week. I'm making comfort food which I hope will cheer us all up. Tonight: short ribs of beef with mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes, corn on the cob steamed in the oven in a pan of butter and scallions, the remainder of the crusty Italian loaf to soak up the gravy, a bottle of Malbec; ice cream over apple and pear tarts for dessert.
