I have never been an Oatmeal fan, and our family never had it. I guess my first Oatmeal would have been in the Army. They had all you could eat eggs, bacon, sausage links, sausage patties, white and chocolate milk, real orange juice, toast and butter, the little boxes of cereal and the two mystery foods Chipped Beef and Oatmeal....

So, I was in my forties before I really started eating instant oatmeal, and that was made with water. Only as an improved diet food. It has helped me lower my cholesterol...

When I was a kid, I also liked oatmeal topped with some milk and either brown or white sugar.

I usually just eat my oatmeal plain. Occasionally I'll add white or brown sugar or top it with blueberries or bananas. I've never been big on sweeteners, condiments, or sauces. I prefer the natural taste of foods.
