Well, I simply meant dry as opposed to pouring milk on it. I never meant to suggest that I eat it uncooked. I'm fine with the amount of water that gets absorbed by the oatmeal when it's cooking.
I have never been an Oatmeal fan, and our family never had it. I guess my first Oatmeal would have been in the Army. They had all you could eat eggs, bacon, sausage links, sausage patties, white and chocolate milk, real orange juice, toast and butter, the little boxes of cereal and the two mystery foods Chipped Beef and Oatmeal....
So, I was in my forties before I really started eating instant oatmeal, and that was made with water. Only as an improved diet food. It has helped me lower my cholesterol...
I usually just eat my oatmeal plain. Occasionally I'll add white or brown sugar or top it with blueberries or bananas. I've never been big on sweeteners, condiments, or sauces. I prefer the natural taste of foods.
