Never heard of it because it's in one restaurant in Reading, which isn't a super large metro.

Pennsylvania has two signature sandwiches: Philadelphia's Cheese Steak and Pittsburgh's Permanti Sandwich.
Wrong, Dinics is in the Reading Terminal Market, which is two blocks from City Hall in Philly, I use to work right across the street from there and their beef and pork sandwiches owned every cheesesteak I've had.

It has nothing to do with Reading PA,

Chicago: Italian beef sandwich, with sweet peppers or giardinera... whichever you prefer.
AND during Lent: Pepper and Egg sandwich

Hoagies & subs are common around here. We are exactly halfway between NYC and Philly.

Or maybe a meatball sub. Those you can find all over the state.

A fried fish sandwich ain't no good unless it's Lake Erie perch or walleye. Mmmm ... walleye ...

Right now, I live in Chicago, and the Italian Beef is def. king when it comes to iconic sandwiches, so they got that right...even noted the topping it with giardiniera. They failed to mention the dry/wet/dipped trifecta, though. However, Chicago is Chicago, and not Illinois. And the Chicago-style Italian beef isn't nearly as common outside the city. In the rest of the state, including the small rural farming communities there that I grew up in, you're more likely to find the fried pork tenderloin sandwiches that are listed with Indiana...they're pretty much a staple of rural midwest diners. And they're darned good, too.

From my permanent home of KC, they nailed Oklahoma Joe's Z-Man as the best sandwich in town, although it's not iconic BBQ (that would more likely be burnt ends, as there are those who would convincingly argue that the Z-man's two identifying features - toppings of provolone and onion rings - aren't authentic KC style). It's inarguably delicious, even if it does stray from the classic KC BBQ formula. Their description of OK Joe's itself needs some work, for accuracy's sake, though. It's not located in a strip mall, it's actually a functioning Shamrock gas station. And that's the original, only; it's spawned two non-gritty, suburban friendly locations, so far that are standard sit-down restaurants.

The Reading Terminal Market is in PHILLY. Since 1893.

The roast pork is legendary in Philly.

Yes in South Philly where the cheese steak is also infamous. AS THE ARTICLE STATES. Pat's and Geno's.

But you can't get this roast pork in other places like you can get in So Philly (or DiNics in the terminal). Just like you can't get the ROLLS they use in other states. Just not the same.
