I correct myself: "traditional" English food is weird and icky. I'm sure they have all sorts of nice modern dishes today, but if a relative is making some ancestral dish, it's often weird and icky.
Many of the best British dishes are "traditional" - I enjoy traditional British cooking. It's easy to find a dish in any country's cuisine that's "weird and icky."
Welll....Im Czech and most people don't know the difference between a Kolache and a Klobasnek.
I don't know either one but would try a Kolache if it's anything like a Kolecky apricot cookie a friend of mine makes every holiday. Now off to google to see what they are.
I am Chinese-American. I think that a lot of people think that they have actually sample real Chinese cuisine. I beg to differ - it is Chinese-American (there is nothing wrong with it). I think the major misconception is that Chinese cuisine has lots of fried items and has lots of sauces.

Haggis (okay, Scottish, but part of UK)
Cornish "stargazy" fish pie
Blood pudding/Blood sausage/black pudding
steak & kidney pie
Ox tongue (this one makes me gag and throw up a little just to look at the picture)
