I'd have to go with McDonald's, Chipotle, or Wendy's. They're cheap enough to make it worth going to. Once you get into higher priced sit down chains you can usually find a better local alternative at the same price point. Basically you can either go cheap or spend 2 minutes Googling for an affordable solid place.
I'm not really in to FF restaurants but when i'm traveling theres not much choice
Panera Bread
Sticky Fingers
Tim Hortons
Churches chicken
Sonnys Real Pit BBQ
Red Lobster
Chilis
are a few of the restaurants i enjoy when traveling
We have several we go to for different reasons.
One is Longhorn Steakhouse, it is a favorite of a couple we go out to supper with a few times a month.
One is IHOP, my husbands 94 year old Aunt loves to eat there and 2 of our grandchildren love the pancakes and waffles there.
One is Gold Corral, it is my Mother's favorite and we go there when we visit with my Mother.
We eat at home most of the time because my husband's favorite chain restaurant is our dining room.
For someone who swears that she doesn't "really like" chain restaurants, this list is a bit longer than I anticipated.
J Alexander's
Bonefish Grill (but really only for their excellent happy hour + bang bang shrimp Wednesdays)
Carabba's
Panera Bread (road trip tradition for the husband and me -- we kick off each trip by picking up breakfast/caffeine there, since it doesn't make us feel like greasy death...and they'll let me get a salad for breakfast, but that's a different story altogether)
Jason's Deli (LOVE)
Firebirds
In-N-Out and Chick-fil-A are the only chains I eat at on a regular (at least once a month) basis.
