But peanuts are American and they are not Midwestern. They are Southern - straight out of Georgia.

Yes, peanuts came from the American South. Most people don't realize how much American Indian agriculture donated to the diet of the world. Corn, beans, squash, peanuts, potatoes, sweet potatoes, cocoa and tomatoes, just to name a few crops. Medieval Europeans were stuck with carving turnips on Halloween.

If you mean South America, by the American South, you would be absolutely correct.

I never gave it a whole lot of thought, but you could be right, peanut butter in beef vegetable soup could be a Midwestern thing. I learned it from a friend in Muncie, Indiana around 1972 or 3.

At the time I didn't think it sounded like it would taste very good at all, but took a chance and gave it a try. I was really surprised how much it improved the taste of the soup and I've had bvs like that ever since. Over the years I've turned a bunch of people on to that recipe addition.

Peanut Butter is also good in tomato soup, and in chili, and in chicken tortilla soup. Give it a try sometime. I highly recommend it.

Those are the only soups I ever tried it in.

I've got this recipe to whole wheat blueberry and greek yogurt pancakes that taste amazing with pure maple syrup. Wouldn't have them any other way.

Standard pancakes... dunno... fruit and whip cream, I'm sure is good, but I def always need some syrup on mine.

Kind of just occurred to me why sausage pancakes aren't a hit? Not that I've made them before, or technically had any, but one thing I like with pancakes is sausage links that I dip in the syrup. So, why would sausage pancakes not be a hit?!

We usually have fruit on our pancakes or waffles. In fact if you have an extra banana you can mash it and put it right into the pancake mix. If you don't have any fresh fruit, you can always put a good quality fruit jam on top of the pancakes. I am not a huge pancake lover, but once in awhile they are good.
