I will add myself to the nutritional yeast recommend-ers, especially for those looking for something healthy and/or dairy-free.

Default Re: Popcorn

Sprinkle some Kraft grated American cheese on it. (It's a powder in a shaker like the parmesan cheese.) It's what they use to make cheese popcorn...awesome!

anything to give popcorn some zest?

Well, you can trade it in for tacos with salsa.

But why would you want to alter the popcorn? Popcorn with butter and a little salt is sublime ambrosia.

You want "zest", fine, get something with zest. But why should you ruin perfectly good popcorn?

Popcorn can't be "blasé". You, on the other hand, can be blasé about popcorn.
I like garlic butter and parmesan cheese.

And putting butter and salt on it ISN'T altering it?

I love popcorn in its natural state, and buttered popcorn. And seasoned popcorn.

I also love both plain potato chips and flavored ones...both plain tortilla chips and chips & salsa.

I don't see how seasoning popcorn with things beyond butter and salt "ruins" it. It's good either way.

OMG I hate all of you! Okay, not really, it's just that all suggestions sound good & I'm on the Dukan diet & trying to ignore popcorn for a few months.

If making popcorn myself, I use only organic, salted butter.

If store bought, I buy Smartfood, the black bag which is popcorn with white cheddar cheese. Honestly, I ate 1/2 bag for breakfast for many years. My only dislike for that is twice I've bitten into kernels & it's cracked my teeth, resulting in $6K dental work (no, I'm not kidding). So, still... my fave store bought popcorn is Smartfood.

If I pop it myself, it's with salted, organic butter. And, everyone else's suggestion sounds great, too... I'm just calorie conscious at the moment, so am trying to hold off for a few weeks.

Let us know what you choose.

I've had popcorn with olive oil, and that tasted delicious. Not as good a butter, but at least it's better for you. However, I personally don't use olive oil as liberally since it's always messy to clean up.
