When I was a kid, ice cream always made me thirsty, so I hardly ever ate it. When I was grown, I discovered Haagen-Dazs, which does not make me thirsty. I can't prove it, but I've wondered ever after if guar gum and carrageenan are what used to make me want to drink water.

So in theory you are still thirsty after drinking a milkshake? I know I still am, it hits the spot on a hot day but doesn't quench your thirst. A A&W root-beer float does served in a frosty mug.

Yeah milky drinks aren't quite as thirst-quenching. Sometimes water isn't as thirst-quenching as freshly squeezed lemonade, but as for sweet sodas or something while they initially quench your thirst the sugar just makes you thirsty afterwards.

Dark chocolate. Milk chocolate doesn't make me particularly thirsty, but dark chocolate does.

I love nearly ice cold chocolate and strawberry milk. OJ and lemonade that is very cold and chilled hits the spot too. I like those mixed berry fruit punch drinks also. Kiwi, strawberry, lemonade type stuff. I'm not big on grape though. I eat grapes, just don't care for the juice alone. I don't like grape candy either.
