Just wondering...we Americans are so "go, go, go." Do you actually eat three sit-down meals a day?
I have a friend who is very rigid about her meals. She eats very healthy (organic, etc.) and will never skip a meal. I seem to eat when I feel hungry...usually a mid-morning meal and another larger meal late afternoon. Then I snack in the evening. Not the best eating habits, I guess. I'm retired, so I can eat when I want.
How about you? What are your eating habits? Do you eat a sit-down breakfast, or do you grab coffee and a granola bar on your way to work? I suppose most working people eat lunch. How about dinner? Do you cook an actual meal, pick up fast food, or just pop some popcorn? I was guilty of all of the above when I worked. Anyone actually eat three sit-down meals anymore?
No. I get up too late for breakfast usually. I'm generally not hungry at lunch time but occasionally do have a little something for lunch. Dinner with daughter's crew varies from around 4PM to 7PM. No one eats at the tables these days in this house.
I don't eat breakfast at all. I'm never hungry in the morning, so why force myself to take in extra calories when I'm always watching my weight? I eat a salad at my desk for lunch, and then my husband and I have a sit down dinner. I love to cook, so it's not a burden for me.
I think if I lived alone, and didn't work I'd probably do exactly what you do.
I grab a coffee and a grain muffin on my way to work, but eat it at work sitting down. I'll never eat on the go, I always sit down to eat and take my time to digest. Eating on the guy makes eating just a functional utilitarian thing, takes away the pleasure. I'm not a wildebeest!
Even when traveling we do not do fast food unless it is the absolute last choice we have. We always sit down to eat and use the dining room table every time we do sit down to eat. Except when I am by myself and I am having lunch, I sit at my desk and read the forum.
^^^ Right! Sadly there is a whole generation that does not know what it means to sit down and have quality time with family members at meal times.
People have dining rooms, though... not sure what for
Two light meals, with one healthy snack in between, are plenty for me. I usually have one of the meals at the table with my husband. The other meal and the snack I eat solo, usually while sitting at the kitchen island and reading.
The meal I share with DH is most often home-cooked, but we enjoy eating out 2-3x a week. Neither of us likes fast food, other than an occasional Wendy's chili with a side salad.
