Those are not rice bowls. Those dishes are used to serve Japanese side dishes such as, tsukemono, hijiki, namasu, sashimi, etc.. Believe me, as someone who has cooked and eaten Japanese food all my life. I even have my own set of Japanese dishes and the more ornate dishes such as those are always used for side dishes.

He didn't recognize the name of the company....(and he wasn't interested beyond that....he doesn't understand my interest in the internet.

From what I can tell, Japanese is a very non specific language. When we go out to eat in Japan....I will ask him what is on the menu....and he will say "pork". I will counter...."honey...there are two pages of entrees...what do they say?" He will reply, .... "pork and rice and vegetables. I cant get anything more specific out of him......but he is the same way looking at an American menu....he doesn't seem to hone in on what is being described....so he will order; "the fish" but not know if it is fried or broiled and what the sides are. he is always surprised at the presentation of his order...even when it is described on the menu.
