LOL - not many are going to get that one. This Gus's isn't "Los Pollos Hermanos" - it's an excellent local fried chicken restaurant in Memphis Tennessee.

BTW - have you purchased fried chicken at EVERY restaurant in NC/SC - because you state that ANY restaurant there will serve greasy fried chicken.

I would be ashamed to negatively generalize the culinary capabilities of an entire region of the United States because I purchased greasy fried chicken at a few restaurants and supermarkets.
This - Gus's is the best fried chicken, period. Awesome!

Can't speak to the fried chicken in the rest of the south - I rarely get it - trying not to die by 30.

But if the Mets insist on injuring the Braves' "best stuff" then they're just going to have to settle for second best.

Yes, but the Braves are just "transported" Yankees. So you should cut the rest of them Yankees some slack too.

One of the best places I know of. Didn't see one near you. Bummer. Best fried chicken cutlet sandwich I ever had in 42 years of eating them. The rest of the menu is great.
We had a couple of Maryland Fried Chicken locations in our area, and yes, their food was tasty. A few years ago, the one location was turned into a smoke shop (still with the chicken sign above it), and the other just shut down last month. The people in our area are not very pleased.

Just a guess, but southerners probably make the best fried chicken right at home. Who needs a restaurant when Momma/Grandma's recipe has always sufficed?

If you want good fried chicken in the South, you need to go further south than the Carolinas. Try south Alabama or south Mississippi. THAT is where you'll find it. Look up Hart's Fried chicken in Mobile. Bet you change your mind.

There are actually a couple of places in Nashville that make really good chicken although the name escapes me. Look up Bizarre Foods America (Nashville episode) and you will find it.

And sorry, but the West coast or the north is not going to outcook a southerner. Not on friend chicken anyhow.
