I'm not a fan of Krispy Kreme. I like the chocolate devil's food filled with chocolate creme from Shipley's.

In general, I'm not a fan of donuts. But I like Dunkin Donuts' chocolate glazed donut, all right. That's what I usually have if I'm going to have a donut.

A Shipley's glazed donut that was still warm....yum. I also love their chocolate iced yeast donuts. I don't care for Krispy Kreme at all.

District Donuts, Magazine Street, New Orleans, Louisiana.

I am especially partial to the Red Velvet Cake doughnuts.

Just a perfect, fresh, soft maple bar for me.

While we're on that subject... Why the heck does Texas not know what a maple bar is??? Any proper Texans (I only zip through there for work from time to time) have some insight? Isn't this a standard, favorite donut all over the states? I've spent a disproportionate amount of time on the Gulf Coast this year and have realized that NO ONE in S TX seems to make/carry maple bars, or even really know what they are!! Yes, there is a Portland, OR-based, Voo Doo Donuts (which are awesome, btw) in Austin, but that is only one shop, and Austin does not count as Texas, IMO. How in the heck did the bacon-maple bar craze from five years ago bypass this part of the world?? Seems to me it would have TX written all over it...

Locally for me: warm cronut at donut savant in Oakland. Beignets at Flora, with yummy dipping sauces: mexican chocolate and raspberry or similar.

Very very high on the list: warm dulce de leech donut from Blue Star in Portland. If you are in Portland skip voodoo and go here instead. Way way better! All of the donuts we had were amazing.
