Farmers Market. Syracuse, NY.

7 a.m. You can smell the hot fat for rows before you actually get to the stand.

Fresh dough. Boiling hot oil. Toss them in a huge bowl of cinnamon and sugar. Served piping hot.

(My heart is still screaming "No Mas").

The best donuts I ever had were when I was kid at a place called Donutland. It was the weekend hotspot after church or a morning of sledding. They specialized in assorted variety of bismarcks. You could get donuts with pretty much any fruit jelly including cherry, blueberry, lemon, raspberry, apple and strawberry. It was so much fun picking out a dozen and trying to get as many different ones as possible. They were all good. Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme are all right, but they will never touch Donutland from my youth.

LOL, it's because I never went there, and they used plain pink boxes. Our safety manager brought them to work every morning.

I'll second that vote. I thought a hot Krispy Kreme donut couldn't be topped until I tried Britt's.

Top of Pike's Peak, there's a concession stand that sells freshly made plain donuts. With hot cocoa they are HEAVEN.

In Brooklyn (Bed Stuy) there's a place called 'Dough' and all they do is make delicious doughnuts! YUM YUM YUM!!

I had a lemon poppyseed- sounds weird but it was so delicious and fresh. It was the size of my head and I ate it in one sitting. Don't regret it lol

I forget the name, but the donut was more angel food? with a brown sugar type of cover.
It's near LAX Los Angeles, and I believe it's a stand alone shop.
A similar design shop is on the Simpsons.

Anybody in L.A. remember the name??
