It's a matter of taste and what you are used to. I never had a Krispy Kreme until 1999 and I was not impressed. They are run of the mill donuts, as far as I'm concerned. A lot of great donut shops out here in L.A. that put Krispy Kreme to shame, IMHO.

It's a toss up. A "homemade" one at some diner on a road trip and a Krispy Kreme at around 2 am right after they were baked.

Hot Krispy Kremes were the best, until they changed the recipe. They taste foul to me now.

I live in Seattle, and I do love Top Pot Donuts!

It was called a honeymooner, it was cruller textured and it had lemon custard in the center with cherries on top. YUM.

Anyone who said Krispy Kreme has never been to a decent bakery.

Best donuts are from Warren Baking Co. in Warren Ohio.

Every order of chicken includes Japanese cucumber pickles and a honey donut, and is served with your choice of dry seasoning, wet glaze or naked. Seasonings include Za'atar Coconut Curry Buttermilk Ranch. Glazes are either Chili-Garlic Honey-Ginger.

Top it with a couple of scoops of rocky road ice cream and it would be a great late night snack for a pregnant lady.
