This was a bit before my McDonald eating days, but I do remember the much lower prices. In the late 70's, we used to ride our horses into town with our Dad--just to stop and eat at the McDonalds on the outskirts of town. We did this only a few times per year. It was such a treat to have a hamburger, fries and a milkshake. Our horses tied up to the telephone post outside created a lot of excitement, too. Everyone wanted to come out and pet them. Imagine seeing that at a McD's today?

I still only eat anything at McD's a couple of times per year! The food is pretty toxic, wouldn't ya say?

In the late 70's (if I recall correctly), McDonald's had a commercial that showed a customer buy 2 hamburgers and a small order of fries and receiving change back from a dollar. How times have changed!

Orangeade. Haven't seen that for about 4 decades.

The beef tallow French fries were the best. Then everyone got concerned about cholesterol.

It's funny to look at these prices. I reminisce about being able to get a value meal for $5 in high school and thinking that was cheap.

As a side note, who remembers the old Styrofoam clamshell containers they used to use?

I remember in my college days, I had a roommate who used to glue those things to his ceiling and walls for insulation .... we had to endure some brutal Boston winters, and the heating bills were high.

You mean those "Keeps the cold side cold and the hot side hot" containers.

Who remembers playing that Monopoly game where McD's gave out game pieces. Everyone "almost won" because they only needed one more piece in each category.

Orangade and root beer *drool*

1972 was when McDonald's used real hamburger meat to make their hamburgers and their french fries was made out of real potatoes.

Love the simple menu. Less choices=easier, quicker decisions.

Ah the good ole days, where going to Mickey D's was a treat, and not a normal every day thing. It was decent cheap food, before it became cheap fast food, and then morphed into toxic Frankenfood.
