OK - now I know what will be for dinner tomorrow. Fries and a burger and a cold grass cutting beer. Real food:>)

Gotta agree that every time a fast food place tries to be 'healthier' I go there less - now hardly at all.

If I want healthy I'll eat a salad - gimme great-tasting garbage at food joints.

yep, my mother cooked French fries in hot oil- Crisco ? probly

one of my favorite meals

to cook the French fries in lard or Crisco today,, is akin to smoking a Marlboro, the health food Nazi's
will shame and shun you!!

in the thousands of "what for dinner" postings,,,is there one saying they cooked French fries in oil???

I prefer my fries cut thick.. that way you get a lovely crisp outer layer and inside is heavenly and soft.. perfect!

Ree Drummond does double fries. Once to get them cooked inside and then again to get crispy on outside. A bit messy but they really do taste good.

She says soak them in water first.

Perfect French Fries Recipe : Ree Drummond : Food Network
Yep, we always soaked them in water after peeling and cutting the potatoes into fries. Then dipped them in hot Crisco in the Fry Daddy! Wonder what I did with that Fry Daddy? It's been years.

I do. Along with biscuits made with lard. It's something about lard that enhances the flavor

Gonna sound ridiculous here but where is lard in the store? Next to Cricso? I see Ree using chunks of the stuff and it looks like it is packaged similar to cream cheese.

I haven't noticed. I wouldn't be surprised if it's in a shelf below the crisco
