I do. I check to see what country it comes from. I don't buy food imported from China, if possible.

Could your seafood contain toxic chemicals? - TODAY Health - TODAY.com
Footage taken by a U.S. advocacy group of seafood being raised in Vietnam, for example, showed fish in dirty sewage water, pumped with toxic antibiotics and banned drugs just to keep them alive, boosting production and driving down costs. “Unfortunately, consumers can’t tell if any of these compounds are in their seafood,” said Joe Basile, a seafood chemist for the Alabama Department of Agriculture. “You can’t smell it, can’t taste it, you can’t cook it out.”
Scientists say that over time, eating seafood contaminated with such chemicals could cause anemia, cancer and even birth defects. .... TODAY’s investigation found that the FDA tests less than 2 percent of imported seafood.

Weird thing is you can look on a bag of frozen food and it's marked where it came from. (Usually.) If it's sitting there "fresh", who knows where it came from?

Sorry, this next part is pretty gross. In fact, it's so gross, I woin't even link the part of the article that's gross. Here's the link. It's disgusting.

I don't buy food from China if I can avoid it.

At one of our local supermarket chains, at their fresh seafood counter, each item is labeled where it is from, whether it is wild caught or farm raised, along with the price per pound.

I never buy garlic from China, it's a root crop and there are too many stories of human sewage being used as fertilizer there.

Just say NO to China/Vietnam/.
In the U.S. most states now test for harmful chemicals in their fish. The state regs most of the time will
show how much if any of different types of fish one should have per month.

You won't see that from the Asian countries. I have always been a strong advocate of NOT buying Swai and other fish from
Asian countries as as others have said, the waters are very very polluted and I don't want to eat fish that are raised in
that environment.

I avoid Chinese and Viet Namese food exports but I'm very careful as well about Canadian food products because they contain many ingredients from China. For example, I know a person in the garlic bread business there who has told me that all the garlic is from China because it's cheaper than California garlic. The frozen garlic bread is exported here. The Canadians import many products that are not imported here directly.
