I left a bad review after getting stomach flu at a restaurant.

Yes, I do. Others rely on those reviews. Hope, everyone is honest.

Yes. I was in the business awhile and know firsthand most people only get online to trash a place - sometimes deservedly, sometimes not.

So if do write online reviews, make an effort to note the good along with the bad.

I've been a Yelp Elite poster for about five years or so. The vast majority of my reviews are positive ones, and my few negative ones are constructive, versus just a complaint-fest.

Yes, I have left a few, but usually only when I've liked the restaurant. I think one should go to a restaurant more than once before leaving a bad review.

Me too!
But I'm not elite, and I don't use my real identity.

I try and post good and bad reviews of restaurants as well as other businesses. If I was a manager or owner of a business, I would want to know what the public thought of the service they received.

Yes, sometimes. However, you didn't get stomach flu from a restaurant unless a restaurant employee had it in which case it would be a few days before it would show up and you wouldn't make the connection.. You might have gotten food poisoning, but that's something entirely different.

Agreed. You cannot get the flu from a restaurant. You can only get it from another human.

The gestation period for food poisoning is usually 36 hours and you would have been in the hospital at which point the Center For Disease Control is notified in case of an outbreak.

My family has been in the restaurant business for four generations and my husband is a restaurateur.

In this day and age, food poisoning is extremely rare.

Yes I do, particularly where it pertains to a restaurant's gluten awareness. Folks with celiac and gluten intolerance have a hard enough time finding safe places to eat, and I'm more than happy to share my experiences if it will help.
