I also collect cookbooks. My library boasts over 1000 volumes, all of which I have read cover to cover. I used to be able to remember which book I had read what recipe in and often times the page too. Not so anymore, but I do enoy my collection. I also use the internet when I want a new twist.

hehe
I like both cookbooks as well as the internet.
You can't beat the convenience and instant gratification of the internet!
I have a lot of print-outs and need to get my online recipes more organized.
Our new home has the study down the hall from the kitchen and sometimes I do end up padding back and forth (I don't have--and don't really want--a laptop.)
OTOH
I do like holding a cookbook and perusing it for ideas. I still use my little plastic cookbook holder on the counter.
I have many more cookbooks than I regularly use, though.
Basically it's both of The Silver Palates, the Joy of Cooking, and a few gas grill cookbooks for me.

Default What Are Your Favorite Cookbooks?

My husband and I just moved into a house after living on the road in a motorhome for 3 1/2 years. I can't wait to start "really" cooking again. So everybody, what is your favorite cookbook or internet site for recipes?
I got rid of all my cookbooks when we hit the road. Now I want some back.

Thank you,
Lisa

Fanny Farmer Boston Cooking School Cookbook is the one I would save if my house was burning down.

The Joy of Cooking.

Greene on Greens, by Burt Greene. Great non-vegetarian vegetable cookbook.

Don't use recipe books so much - I usually search for recipes on these 2 websites.

Food Network - Easy Recipes, Healthy Eating Ideas and Chef Recipe Videos : Food Network

Recipes, Menus & Cooking Ideas from Epicurious.com

I love watching the cooking shows and get some of my recipes from them as well. I don't usually follow recipes 100% - I use them as a guide and then alter based on my taste and what I have on hand.

Forgot to list this website as well - Recipes - 15,000 Easy Recipes, Meal Ideas & Party Foods good for more traditional/home cooked recipes. Epicurious is good for the fancy stuff - Food Network is a mix of both

One of my fave's throughout the years has been Molly Katzen's 'Moosewood Cookbook'.

She's got a whack of them out, and they're all terrific, if you're interested in vegetarian at all.

Seems these days though, I tend to just go to the internet and check out a few that look interesting of whatever I want to cook or bake, and go from there.
