San Francisco is eclectic and those gourmet shops are wonderful. Oh, those cheese places.
New Orleans and the surrounding area have at least two (perhaps as many as five depending upon how you define them) cuisines found nowhere else. French technique with local ingredients, e.g., Oysters Rockefeller.
These are the cities where food is a religion; they're the best. Which is your favorite?
Wouldn't this be better as an open question, rather than a poll with two choices?
I've neither been to San Fran or New Orleans, but I'd imagine I could find something tasty in either city. I do have a soft spot for NYC. There's literally something for everyone. You've got restaurants that cater to just about every ethnicity; you've also got chains and more familiar offerings for those who want to play it safe. You have your high-end venues, and you have the food trucks, hot dog carts, and fresh roasted nuts. Good lord, I am getting hungry and really eager to go back to the city.
I would tend to think there are a million less popular places where the food is "that good". An example that comes to mind is Pilot Butte burgers in Bend, Oregon.
The ethnic diversity of San Francisco lends to a true exploration of culinary delights.
