I should check the labels a little more closely as i never knew the chicken in my local grocery could have been processed in China.

Nope. And not that I have anything against China, it's simply an enormous waste of energy to ship all of that to China and then back again. You may save $1-2 on chicken, but waste more oil for stupid reasons like this and watch the prices of gas for your car go up by $2 per gallon. I bought a live chicken from a local farmer a little while back and butchered it myself. It didn't go 100% smoothly, but it wasn't that hard. The fat that came off of it was beautiful as well.

I am thinking about raising my own chickens and processing them myself! It seems that our food supply has more dangers than ever with GMO's hidden in our food and now food processing in foreign countries. Would you eat chicken processed in China?
Never. I won't even buy dog treats that are made outside the US.

Knowingly: no, and we try to buy as much locally as possible, but sometimes I don't check closely enough. Now, as for Dr. OZ, sorry I take about 1/2 of what he says to heart and I am not a believer in "all I read is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth"

Just got back from the super market, i checked the labels on the chickens and none of them had any information on where the chickens came from or where they were processed. So i have no idea whether the chickens i'm eating come from local sources or Chinese sources.

When I was in China I ate the local chicken dishes available in local restaurants. Here in the USA, when I do buy chicken I don't remember seeing any information on the labels where the chicken came from.

If Dr. Oz is talking about it, then it's probably hyperbolic horsepucky and nonsense. Dr. Oz is a paid shill for whatever company wants him to push snake-oil for him that day. Sounds like the Poultry Growers of America or some political organic lobby group is covering the cost of his Bentley in this episode.

Of course, I -would- be concerned if my chicken pieces came from China. However, pretty sure they're not. First of all, because it's Dr. Oz claiming that they are, and he's full of whatever someone is paying him to be full of. In this case, it's chicken droppings. Second, because Perdue has its USA chickens grown and slaughtered right here in the USA, and that's usually the brand of chicken I buy.

I don't know how anyone keeps up with the constant fear mongering that's going on. I would be an absolute basket case if I tried to keep up with half of it.

I would not knowingly buy any food item from China for human or pet consumption. Problem is our government will do nothing to help us Americans to identify product origins. We may have to march on Washington to remedy this situation!

P.S. Regardless who brought this to light I'm not eating anything from China, knowingly!
