This is nothing, it's caramelized sugar.... lots of foods have it. You know if you burn meat, it chars up too.... but it's not like you sit there and eat burned charred black meat.

I stopped drinking soda a week ago after being told about the video. I had a few carbonated fruit drinks and drank soda for close to 30 years. Now this seems to be a hoax? Im so tired of the back and forth "eat/drink" this....Wait! Don't "it's bad for you!" Maybe I will just stick to water and juice since soda has no nutritional value anyway.

Many foods/drinks will look nasty if you boil the water out of it.

It's a reduction that caramelized. What's so weird/gross/disgusting about that?

I don't drink sodas because I can't have all the extra sugar, but there's nothing about this video that would put me off of sodas if I did drink them. It's basic science.

I don't think it's the black carmalized stuff that's the issue, it's the sheer quantity of carmalized product that you can get out of it. It's much harder to visualize just how much 60+ grams (or however much is in one of those 16 oz bottles) of sugar really is for most people in the US unless they're scientists or engineers since we use standard measurements.

Even if you used a Coca Cola with cane sugar, you would end up with the same.

Since I don't boil it before those rare occasions when I drink it, then I don't see anything to worry about.

Once again, this forum is plagued with manufactured "news" created for sensational purposes only.

Huffpo is right on it. Linkbait at its worst.

LOL Everything in moderation. There's nothing better then a sip or two of ice cold soda when you're hot and sweaty or after a hangover from too much red wine that's supposed to be really good for you. Just not a months worth in a couple of hours.
