I'm not a big fan of hotdogs but bowing to the wishes of the rest of the family its going to be hot dogs tonight.
Any one got any creative ideas for toppings other than the usual mustard/ketchup.
And some interesting side dish/s to go with them?

Thanks

Well, it's too late now and not everyone likes this anyway but sauerkraut. It's super good for you and you develop a taste for it. That's what we had last night and I made home fries to go with them. It was sort of a funny dinner but it was a hot night and we just felt like having something kind of weird. Maybe someone else will have a more creative idea but this worked for us.

If you're grilling your hot dogs, I recommend spiral cutting them.

I like them topped with chili and cheese. And toast the buns!

Peppers, onions, relish, cucumbers, tomatoes....plus the usual mustard, of course....
That's a serious weiner

Or, you could do this--

Soo yummy- chili, cheese & onions....

Sides- homemade fries, chips, or onion rings-
The kids used to request hot dogs in the Summertime-
we grill 'em more often that not, now

Besides the usual suspects ( mustard / ketchup )

Chopped Bacon, BBQ Sauce, Teriyaki Sauce, Sweet & Dill relish.

My favorite side for the dogs;

Head of lettuce, head of cauliflower, pound of Bacon, Mayo & Sugar

Chop up the lettuce, Cut cauliflower and run it over a grader.
Chop up bacon into small pieces and make it crispy in a pan, saving
½ tsp of grease.

Put lettuce, cauliflower & cooled bacon bits into a large mixing bowl
add mayo a bit at a time until it's consistency is to you like. start with
a tablespoon of white sugar until your taste buds are happy then mix in
the ½ tsp of nummy bacon grease. Fold gently and thoroughly.

Place plastic wrap Directly on top of the salad and chill for 20min
to let the flavors combine.

I'll also use this as a topping for my dogs, so it gets double use

We like pimento cheese on our hot dogs and that is what we are having tonight. We also like chili and cheese, pickle relish.

Sides are sweet potato fries, fresh corn on the cob, corn salsa, watermelon, s'mores, baked beans, pasta salad, strawberries and blueberries to put in ice tea, baked sweet onions (Vidalia), baked potatoes, broccoli salad and of course raw veggies and dips.

Onions, mustard, and Skyline chili. Most supermarkets carry Skyline chili in the can and/or frozen.

Baked beans are a great side....
so is pasta salad,
or potato salad, etc.
