I was so disappointed. They tasted like boxed cupcakes: over sweet. Nothing interesting at all. Just sugar sugar sugar. We have some dedicated cupcake places with fresher ingredients and unique flavors that are worth the trip. But if they taste like bake sale cupcakes? Might as well support my local PTA.

I haven't found any good bakery cupcakes in a long time! Most seem overly sweet to me.

I make my own and freeze them without icing. When I want a couple, I thaw them in the microwave or overnight on the counter.

Cupcakes are good when I want something sweet but don't want a whole cake or pie around.

Pie in small amounts especially rhubarb or berry is actually half the calories of those cupcakes, most which are topped in inch thick shortening based frosting.

Same thing about muffins. Many of those are well into 600 calories.

Same here. Several months past the 1st disappointment, I thought I'd give it another chance.
Ugh. No better. If you pay that much, you at least expect a nice, moist cupcake. Not one that is dry.
I can do so much better, even with a box version and pay less.
That's what is really sad.

The craze was over before it even began.

I love a good cupcake, but not a gigantic cupcake.

Great, now we'll have "Pie Wars" and pie shops popping up with cutesey wootsey names on them, oh like maybe "Pie in the Sky" ( I apologize if there really is one).

Yes,yes, yes, where did they all go (other than the bakery section in grocery stores)?

When did they become unpopular? Love pies, make great pies all from scratch and no canned filling.
