Well, here's a couple of things that I do. First, when I make regular toast and spread butter over it, here is how I do the butter. Dice the garlic (I use a lot, but it depends on your taste) very fine. Put into a small saucepan with one stick of butter and about two tablespoons of extra virgin olive. Heat very slowly. This is key. Garlic will burn and get bitter otherwise. After about twenty minutes, remove from heat and pour into a shallow bowl. Sprinkle with basil. Mix well. Put into the icebox to firm up. Spread over toasted thick slices of bread.
If I want to toast the brerad in the oven, I spread the butter mixture over the bread and top with diced tomatoes (kind of a bruchetta thing going on). Then I put it into an oven at 350 until the bread gets a little toasty / crusty looking.
My wife and I keep lots of this butter mixture in the icebox at all times.

Yum, sounds good.
Thanks for the idea. Just needed something a little different for a dinner I'm going to and need to bring the garlic toast.
The spread sounds wonderful.

I usually roast the whole garlic bulb and then spread it on a toasted baguette, toast points or whatever type of toasted bread.
There are different methods to roasting garlic but I chop of the top of the bulb drizzle olive oil over the top and then put it in the oven for about 20 min. at 350 degrees. Just make sure that you do not over cook the garlic because then it has a bitter taste.

Now if I can do this without burning the garlic,
I'm in business.

I love to do all my cooking from scratch, but for Garlic Bread, I always rely on Pepperidge Farms Garlic Bread.
Their regular garlic, or three cheese garlic bread or parmesan cheese bread are all easy and yummy straight from the Toaster Oven!
