My favorite soul food lately has been homemade tortillas used for tacos. I think I'll fix one now.

Too many to mention them all, but if I were making a meal for my son who loves to eat "Soul Food" these would be on the table:

Fried Chicken
Meat Loaf
Pinto Beans
Mac & Cheese
Turnip Greens
Fried Okra or Squash
Corn Bread
Sliced Tomatoes
Beet Pickles
Sweet Iced Tea
Banana Pudding

You hit home with that one. Mom made salmon patties, creamed potatoes and peas. I loved that meal.

Yes to the salmon patties. We serve ours pan-fried with: stewed tomatoes and corn, slow cooked baby lima beans, a pot of white rice, and yellow buttery cornbread, and of course sweet iced tea or fresh lemonade.
