Does anyone by chance know the name of the Egyptian dish that has lentils, tomato, noodles, chick peas, oil, and some crispy things tossed in to a bowl? I used to eat that a lot for the 2 weeks I spent in Egypt, but the name escapes me.
Middle Eastern food, as well as food from the surrounding areas, is becoming popular in the U.S., even the more culturally remote areas, such as Northern Minnesota. I partly credit myself with this trend (just kidding). Which of these foods have you eaten or tried, and where? What do you think of Middle Eastern food in general?
I've had just about all of them. Middle Eastern food is huge, here. I love it.

I've had many of the things on your list. Generally I like middle eastern foods. I am sad my Egyptian friend from middle school did not invite me over for dinner more, but this was a time/place when being an immigrant was "weird" and you didn't serve your american friends "weird" food. We are making up for lost time now.
I think that even the pickiest eaters can fid something they will find edible in middle eastern food. At the very least, who doesn't like grilled meat!
