We have a Paul Bunyon fast food place where I live. I don't know how they have stayed afloat this long. The food is awful plus you hardly ever see anyone there. I went there because someone told me they have great fries. I like fries, but I like a lot of other things more. They have shakes and I love pineapple shakes. I have a great place in town where I get my shakes, but Paul Bunyon had them too so I thought I would try them. Well the fries didn't taste any better than most fries, but it was the shake that was awful. Remember this is a pineapple shake. It was kind of a brown/grey color and had no taste to it. I have never before or since thrown away a full shake, but I did that day.
I hadn't eat fast food for a while and went in last year or year before for French fries. Ah, absolute garbage. All of it is! I can't stomach any of their "food." When you eat homemade fries, regular or sweet potato fries, you can't look at another Mickey D's crapola fry. Same with the rest of the menu. If I'm in a hurry, I'd rather eat a PB & J on whole wheat.
Years ago, in Cincinnati, I ordered a vanilla shake at a North College Hill Dairy Barn drive-through one hot summer day, only to find a deceased fly in the bottom of the cup after I'd consumed most of the shake. Ugh. Never went back there (but should have gone once, to complain..., or better yet, called the health department).
In Nicholasville, KY, I could not make the young woman preparing ice cream cones at a Dairy Queen understand that she should not place her bare hand on the cone while filling it, but should use a napkin. I had her throw away three cones she'd handled incorrectly, tried to spell out my objections to her, and she still didn't get it. Finally I just took the fourth one and ate the ice cream down to the cone, then pitched the rest. I should have gone to the manager, but once again, was in a hurry.
Not a very bright girl; badly trained and supervised to boot.
If we do eat out, it's never Burger King. And people must agree with me as around here there aren't any. I think there is like 2 in my entire area that I "travel" in. Well my husband really wanted to get burger king as it had been years and years. We drove up and what the heck happened to the prices? The cheapest "meal" was $9. Sticker price shock there. (Steak and Shake, McDonalds etc is all in the $6 range for meals) I didn't order anything but he got the meal and took a bite. He made a face and threw it all away. He said it's like eating charcoal and won't make that mistake again. We went for chinese. lol
Other than that, i can't think of anything bad at fast food restaurants. Sadly enough if we do go, it's pretty consistent. Maybe my expectations are lowered when I go so I don't expect much.
I went to a Wendy's and thought they still had a value menu. Then I ordered the food and the portions were less than half of what they had been several years prior, even though prices were up by 40%. I've never been back.
