Oh my, thank you Sheena for posting this recipe. And it calls for one of my favorite liquors--amaretto. You say add the amaretto to the mix--how about a little shot glass of it in the cook while she's making it?

Someone asked for the 1-2-3-4 cake recipe. I usually use Alice Waters' recipe, which the NYT published in 2009: http://dinersjournal.blogs.nytimes.c...ype=blogs&_r=0

I use anything that's at least 70% cocoa. Doesn't have to be expensive though, I often use Lidl chocolate.

Love anything with ginger flavours! Think I will have to make it for the 5th of November this year

Leche flan, Ube halaya or cupcakes, depending on the person.

One of my very favorite things is to receive home baked goods! I have gotten better at my baking over the years. Instead of trying many things, I have perfected a few and people seem to enjoy them as gifts:

Pumpkin raisin muffins
Cherry and white chocolate chip cookies
Apple bars

I usually make them my red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. I've never had anyone turn it down.

Nothing. I don't like sweets and never make them.
I'll get them a nice gift or flowers instead.

Depends on the person -- it's all about personalization, which is why I'd be baking it myself in the first place.

If it's an adult, some type of muffins or pound cake. If it's a child, then brownies or cupcakes. I even have recipes up my sleeve for the super health-conscious (and no, they don't taste like cardboard! ).
