Learned a new word today and now I really want some. There are lots of fun videos about how to pick the right pan and how to cook them. Here is my favorite:

How to make an aebleskiver - YouTube

My question is what other uses for this pan? Saw one with removable wooden handle which makes it easy to use in oven as well as on stove top. Can you cook regular pancakes in them or do you have to have the specialty mix? Where do the apple slices come in? Bet baked stuffed mushrooms would be good in this pan. We don't eat many eggs so wouldn't be interested in that but individual lava cakes might work?

Those are delicious...my grandma used to occasionally make them for me (they're a Danish secret ). She had a special cast iron pan made specifically to make them that she used to make them that she got from her mom (my great grandma)...not sure who has that pan now? Now I have a sudden craving for them...

Not sure about your other questions...

They work well for Takoyaki too.

Pretty much any thick batter will work - so pancakes will definitely work, but a crepe batter will likely give you trouble. I've used pancake batter as well as yorkshire pudding batter with a chunk of cooked roast beef in the center.

Found the recipe mix (a bit different than the video) which includes when and how to add the apples.
Saw that Amazon sells those pans.

I was just thinking a good piece of meat would taste good in the center !!

Love this pan!

I've done baked stuffed mushrooms, corn dogs, egg puffs, pancakes, stuffed pancakes and just about anything else you can think of ... all on the stovetop. I have a lid that happens to fit exactly.
