My parents and grandparents tended to put salt on melon - watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydews.
Putting salt on melon just sounds normal to me.
When I was kid sometimes I would put sugar on a slice of bread and eat it. I don't know why! If there was no jelly, I would mix peanut butter and syrup for a sandwich.
My dad used to put leftover cornbread in a glass and pour in milk and eat it like cereal for breakfast. I think that's kind of a southern thing.
Guess I'm with the escargot /anchovy crowd. Haven't had escargot in years though. I always lose out on the pizza topping because I liked anchovies and no one wanted their slice even near it. I now buy a tin of it and add it to my pizza when I want it. Can't even buy an anchovy pizza where I live. They are also great in salads or on pasta as an occ. treat-very salty.
LOl-about the dog feet-you actually got me to smell my dog's feet. They didn't smell like anything. Of course he's a Chi so there wasn't much to smell.
The turkey tail thing brought a laugh and memory- my Grandmother used to eat it first every Thanksgiving just to gross us kids out.
My grandparents used to eat it and now i smell it coming from my landlord downstairs cooking once in a while and I gag.
I'm all for iron but there's gotta be a better way! Besides the smell, eating and organ which filtered out all of the toxins of the body it was once inside never appealed to me!
I've been drinking pickle juice since I was a kid. It's really a good pick me up when my cells need some sodium.
Not weird at all. Just a few weeks ago I read about football players drinking pickle juice to avoid cramps.
