The price of US butter is around $3.99/lb is pretty stable here. Can't find anything saying it will change, or why.
Most consumed USDA Grade AA butter is inferior to the rest of the world, so imported butter cost even more.
I got 1/2 lb of Kerry Irish butter on sale this week for $2.99. I don't know what I'm going to use it for, but the end result will hopefully be as decadent as the price.

Imported butter typically has a higher fat content because there is less water. I prefer the high-fat cultured butters. There are dairies in the US making high-fat and high-fat cultured butters that are just as good.
I agree. But I was referring to the "most consumed" butter that indeed contain at least 80% milkfat, and we like the salted variety.
The rest of the world mostly consumes butter with a minimum of 82% milkfat and no salt.
While the rest of the world is seeing lower butter prices, the US is dealing with lower butter inventories heading into peak demand season.
Hopefully high butter prices will open the door to cheaper imports.
Yay! I am so happy to hear that. My Target circular that I got on Saturday advertised 1 lb Land o Lakes butter for $7!
