I recently noticed a foul smell coming from Keurig Coffee Brewer. Smells like standing water but have cleaned brewer and always has fresh water. Anyone have ideas?

Do you wash ALL components:
Reservoir and lid, drip tray and drip tray cover, K Cup holder & funnel? (it is important to note that these two pieces actually come apart. )
What you use to wash them? vinegar, dish detergent and toothbrush?
Soak all parts and clean with toothbrush. (remember that you cannot wash the lid in a dishwasher)
Brush out any stuck coffee grinds in the K Cup holder.
If you notice any lime scale deposits (white crusty buildup), soak it with vinegar then rinse. Repeat if needed.
Rinse everything very well. Put it together.
Now, fill your reservoir half way with white vinegar. Run it with vinegar twice.
Then run the machine just with clear water (no coffee), several times, till the water is crystal clear and odorless.

Remember: never leave water in the reservoir for longer periods of time. If you have hard tap water - use distilled or filtered water.

BTW: is that a brand new machine? Is that some sort of plastic smell/taste?

It also might be time to descale. Directions come with your Keurig, but you can also buy the descaler K-cups from CoffeeIcon.com

My suggestion is to throw it away and buy a moka pot.

^^ LOL! That's a thought. We use distilled water and never had a problem. We make at least 4 -5 cups a day for last 4-5 years.

Hmm? I have had mine about 5 years and never had a foul smell. Have you tried vinegar and water and run a cycle through??

That is what I do - run white vinegar through it about every six weeks or so.

I have 3 Keurigs and have never had any odors or evidence of mold, but I am very careful with cleaning them regularly.
