Are there some spices/seasonings that you tend to use often for different dishes? I tend to always a few common seasoning in different dishes, such as onion, garlic, pepper..., so after a couple weeks my taste bud doesn't enjoy my own cooking any more and I crave for something completely different, such as bought from supermarket or restaurants. How long can you eat the food cooked by yourself without losing appetite?

If you are bored with what you are cooking often.....try a new recipe.

I could probably do it forever as I use many different herbs, spices, and other emendations as well as prepare a wide variety of foods. I sometimes get tired of something that I've been eating frequently, but there are plenty of other things until I'm in the mood again. I always use the best ingredients, something only a small percentage of restaurants do.
For example, earlier today I had hummis that I made and For dinner I had Egg Foo Young with fried potatoes and raisin toast with plenty of gravy.
I get SO bored with my own cooking.
My grandmother used to also. She cooked a big meal for everybody on Sundays, and then wouldn't eat because she had cooked it all. And she was a really good cook.
For dinners for my family, I try to use a lot of different recipes with different ingredients and spices and herbs and so forth...I mix it up as much as possible, and I STILL get tired of my own cooking. It is really nice to go out to a restaurant or someone else's house and eat something I didn't cook.

She may have been a great cook...but that is a huge chore...no matter what you cook. Did anyone else ever think of helping her?

I taste as I cook, so by the time I'm done cooking a multi-course meal for a crowd, I'm often not hungry anymore. In general, I don't get tired of food. I can always change that. I just don't always feel like cooking. Since I'm single, I don't have to cook for anyone else, and I go out. Or make sandwiches.

I don't consider onion, garlic, pepper, to be seasonings to get bored by. They're a base for whatever you're cooking. Use them with basil and oregano in Italian-type meals, with cumin and cinnamon for Morrocan-style food, with cilantro and turmeric, dill and thyme, etc., etc., the combinations are endless, and you'll rarely be bored.
I'm pretty good with sameness when it comes to food and what I cook/eat.
I just try not to eat the same thing for more than 3 days in a row.
I don't bake or make any exotic and complicated meals, just stick to basics. Tonight for dinner I just broiled up 1/2 a chicken, same as last night........it was a very fine meal(Sorry, it was not a Hipster/organic chicken.....just a puss-filled, hormone-filled, steroid-filled,
factory-holocaust/murderocaust chicken.....but it was tasty!)

Me too. I'm tired of my own cooking. I'd like someone else to cook for a change. :::sigh:::
