My son is very sensitive to yeast so no bread at any meal. Oh, shoot, I wish I would not have started thinking about bread. Thick cut loaves, warmed in the oven all buttered up with real butter and a stack of peanut butter toast..............
I used to serve rolls with dinner but have moved away from this with age and smaller meals. I still love a good hot roll with butter but only with certain meals. And of course garlic bread with any type of Italian food. I always serve rolls, however, when I have a buffet.

Jesus and the disciples had unleavened bread at the last supper over 2000 years ago.
Now, with Italian food!
Well, that's different! Ha
A with soup or stew, yeah!
Yep, with certain meals I have to have bread. Italian food, stews, and other food that you want to sop up with bread. I love the bread sticks at Olive Garden, break them in half and dip them in my soup. Oh, chili is another meal that I can eat a loaf of bread with, especially Cuban or French loafs or something like that.
No. Not every evening meal. It depends on what we're having. Spaghetti calls for garlic bread or breadsticks, a crusty baguette with BBQ shrimp, cornbread (not sweet!) with chili, beans, or black eyed peas, tortillas (flour or corn) with lots of things.
I used to make rolls for holiday meals. Now they're lucky if I sling a few Pillsbury crescent rolls at them .
Growing up, I do remember folks putting a loaf of wonder bread on the table to have along with their meals. Not us, but other families.
