I did the most awful thing ever when I went shopping a couple weeks ago!!!! I took my food stamps and bought....SHRIMP! I found a two pound bag on sale for $13 and bought the shrimp, some crispy Chinese noodles, and some celery. I already had the Rice-a-Roni Fried Rice (2 for less than $2) and the almonds (need to use those up), so tonight I'll make the rice as it's supposed to be made, but then in the last 5 minutes I'll add in the almonds, the diced celery, and the diced shrimp and cook till done. Then I'll add the crispy noodles and enjoy. I figure I probably spent $16 all together and I will get 8 meals, so that's $2 a meal. Works for me and it's delicious as well.
I just don't know what to call it. Rice-a-Roni shrimp dish? Anyway, that's dinner tonight. And tomorrow night and the night after that and the night after that....
A blueberry nonfat Greek yogurt, 3 slices of whole wheat bread with healthy-style margarine & strawberry spread and a mug of tea with a bit of skim milk & a teaspoon of sugar.
We are having leftover spaghetti and leftover pinto beans and cornbread plus whatever else we can find that sounds good - yogurt, canned sardines/oysters (blech - not me!), canned peaches, PB&J. It's a dark, dreary day and I'm not cooking!

We threw a small chicken in the oven with lemon and garlic inside it. Roasted it hot and cooked til just done.
We cut and cleaned an acorn squash and filled it with pats of butter and some real maple syrup. Covered it all with foil and it went in with the chicken.
It was a marvelous meal. Simple, yet delish
