I enjoy rice and corn chex as well as other cereal (usually generic or stor brand), dry, sometimes while in bed watching 'the tube' with the missus. She says they are too noisy!! Oh and there is no generic version of Crispix..

I usually have one sweetened cereal in the pantry as well as a couple 'unsweetened'.

Good consolation is Life (Mikey likes it), again, generic. Its great dry or wet and actually has some redeeming qualities..

I used to love to read the box as a kid..

Once in a while I see (and buy) Quisp. (Remember Quisp and Quake?)

Wasn't there an ad campaign a few years ago that encouraged us to put our bowl of Grape Nuts and milk in the microwave, thereby creating a bowl of hot cereal? I never did because I was always satisfied to have oatmeal or Wheatena if I was having a hot cereal.

My grandmother, before she had an electric stove, cooked on a coal stove and she would set the pot of oats on the back of the stove before bed and in the morning, voila!, breakfast was ready. My Father often reminisced about how creamy it was. Of course, now the mike gives us our oatmeal in a minute. And I admit to doing it that way, but I miss the longer, slower cooking of my early adult years. If it wasn't such a pain to clean the pot...

I had Weetabix last Summer when we were on vaca. Oh, Lord! Went right back to Cheerios. (Does anyone else remember when they were originally called "Cheerioats"?

Default Oh Wow, It Really WAS Called Cheerioats

The irony here is that a childhood friend, late 1940s and 1950s, used to tell me that his favorite cereal was Cheerioats. Being a classy little tyke, I didn't want to make him feel badly by telling him that it's pronounced Cheerios. Now all these decades later, I realize that he was simply using its original name which he probably heard from his mother.

Some store brand fake Cheerios (Aldi maybe?) calls their poor imitation of Cheerios "Cheery Oats."

I recall hearing this quite a long time ago. Perhaps from my grandmother, or if not, I must have read it somewhere.

I thought puffed rice was puffed by being shot from a cannon. Or was that puffed wheat?

I love kids cereals, especially after a long day at work. Pour a nice bowl, put on a Christmas movie and watch your troubles drift away!
