BJ's Brewhouse (Their clam chowder is incredible, along w/ many other things)
Olive Garden (Reasonable prices for the quality, and I have NEVER had substandard service at one)
Red Lobster (I can fill up on their cheddar bay biscuits before the food even gets to the table)
Buca di Beppo (Love the atmosphere and the originality)
PF Chang's (Half-price appetizers during happy hour. Yeah Baby! 3 to 6 pm)

I must say, though, that I will put a lot of effort into finding a small privately owned restaurant with killer food and great servive before I settle for the big boys. I like to support great local businesses.

It's unfortunate that you had a bad experience at a local place, but that should not keep you from trying again and you should not assume that all places are like that. In order to find the amazing places, sometimes you're going to get burned by the mediocre ones (also true of chains). There is a wealth of information available online about restaurants so you don't have to end up at a bad local place or the same old chain. Live a little.
