Buy the professional heavy aluminum half-sheet pans and you'll never regret it. Cookies bake evenly and perfect every time. We went through all kinds of different pans until we found these. Nothing works as well.

You could use them there I guess....but microwaves really do not bake well and most of the mats are two large for a home microwave.......they are for oven use mostly.

I've been using aluminum baking pans without adding parchment paper all my life, and everything comes out great.

I use my silicon mats almost every day. They make clean up fast for baking chicken, especially if baking on a rack. I've never had any trouble with cookies getting crisp on the bottom. We keep ours rolled up...on themselves..and secured with a large gem clip.

and since we all have some dishes to wash at the end of every meal (pots and pans don't get clean in the dishwasher--the water needed to clean them is already in the sink.

Yeah I bought a silpat a couple of years ago thinking "THIS will be GREAT!" After realizing that it was just one more thing to wash, I decided it was more trouble than it was worth. It now sits in the cabinet, unused. I guess I need to toss it. Parchment paper is the best solution, and I use it all the time now. I can reuse one sheet about 3 or 4 times for cookies - a great time-saver, and it works perfectly.
