Red meat has been linked to cancer for decades, with research suggesting that eating large amounts of pork, beef or lamb raises the risk of deadly tumours.
But for the first time scientists think they know what is causing the effect. The body, it seems, views red meat as a foreign invader and sparks a toxic immune response.

Oh, i'm not trying to prove anything.

I tend to believe the 105 year old eating bacon over the college professor.

Bet the college professor doesn't live to 105.

This is from the first link. I bolded the items that I found interesting.

Connections between red meat and cancer have been made for years and years. Scientist have revealed why people who eat a lot of red meat could be possible cancer victims.

Research teams said, that the body acknowledges red meat as a foreign invader and the immune system releases a toxic response. The alarm set by the immune system in the organism, leads the body to produce antibodies that cause inflammation which could ultimately transform into cancer.

This means that the daily intake of red meat should be portioned. Health experts recommend a daily consumption of two and a half ounces of red meat. This quantity is equal to two slices of beef, or a lamb chop or three slices of ham, per day. The substance contained in the red meat, Neu5Gc is a type of sugar that provokes inflammation and promotes cancer development in rodents.

Researchers at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine examined the possible role of Neu5Gc in human cancer.

Let's talk when their research provides definitive results in HUMANS and not research performed on genetically engineered mice. I'm curious to know how much of the substance was given to those mice that caused them to develop the cancer.

We're not designed to eat just red meat. We're designed to be omnivores. We're opportunists (historically). If we killed a monkey- we ate it. If we dug a root- we ate it.

Basically the old adage rings true- too much of a good thing is bad. Processed foods, cheese, alcohol and by-golly.... red meat.

We eat red meat maybe twice a week, the rest is poultry or pork. It is what it is. If the meat doesn't get me the cigars and bourbon will.

Drinking water causes cancer.

Face it, you're gonna die from something. Might as well be braised short ribs.
