When my kids were little. I never took them to restaurants, it's a huge huge huge pet peeve of mine. If we had to go due to a family dinner, it had to be a chain type restaurant that caters to kids, like Chili's, Bahama Breeze etc.

My kids were usually well behaved but one time my one year old randomly picked up her roll and went to throw it at Daddy in fun (my husband was riling her up...sigh) and it missed and hit a guy in the back of his head at the next table. Buttered side...of course.

Sigh, I was utterly mortified. My whole table apologized but laughed as it was the "funniest" thing ever later on in private. I am STILL mortified.

The new rule then was husband wasn't allowed anywhere near the kids at the table.

I always took my kids out to eat when they were small, despite being a family of 7 they were always well behaved and polite, we even had compliments on how well behaved they were so when we first moved to Michigan we decided to take our 3 grandees out to dinner, we were told they liked the food at the local China Buffet King so off we went. OMG little harridans, they mashed food into the tables, hid under the table, refused to eat anything except soft serve ice cream. Everyone in the restaurant was looking as us so we paid and left. On the way out the oldest had a melt down because we refused to give him 25c so he could get some tat from those crappy vending machines so I dragged him out by his arm.

That was a year ago, we have never eaten out with them since. My son knows he wasn't brought up like that and I'm not blaming my daughter in law but OMG. That advert on tv right now with the chimpanzees at a resataurant ... yes I'd rather take them than the grandee's, at least they have a good excuse for behaving like animals.

Lots of table training since and the oldest who is now nearly 7 still can't use a knife and fork and licks the plate when hes finished

There's a nice family-owned Chinese restaurant my fiancé and I have frequented for years. A few months ago, we had just finished our meal and I had gone out to the parking lot so I could get the car started while my fiancé paid the bill. As he was grabbing the check, he took an emergency call from work and got so flustered he walked out without paying. When we came back that weekend to order takeout, the lady behind the counter looked at us strangely. We asked what was wrong and she said "you didn't pay the last time you were here." We were absolutely mortified, as we're not the sort of people who do that type of thing. Needless to say we squared everything up and included a ginormous tip for the poor girl who had been waiting on us.

It would definitely be the dinner at a hotel restaurant when our 7 yr old choked on a meatball and vomited all over the table, only to have his 6 yr old brother get one look and vomit his meal, also all over the table.

Not really embarrassing, because Im not sure if the wait staff knew what was going on....I was in High School eating with friends at a Big Boy (Marc's) and one drunk friend decides to dine and ditch, then another friend follows. me and another friend think its wrong, so we sit there and don't leave...like 20 minutes. The waitress came over a couple of times, but we don't have enough money to pay the bill. i tell the waitress that I have no idea where my friends went and I went out and had to convince them to come in and pay. It was so dumb.

My dd then age 10 throwing up all over the table at a Golden Coral. The wait staff were nice enough, but who wouldn't be disgusted? We insisted on helping to clean up, then left 2 $20's as tips. I guess dd just couldn't help it, it happened so fast for her...........

another time, ds was about 5. We were at Disneyworld, so, he was already hyped up. He saw a toy on a table, and ran to the table before we could stop him and jumped right on the table, upsetting it and everything all over the place Ok, there again, they were nice, just asked if anyone was hurt, and gave ds another toy, and refused any tip, even gave us our meal free, like as though it was their fault, but they just wanted to make us leave smiling!

Another story......I was on a job interview lunch at an upscale restaurant. I sat down in the chair, not realizing it was on those little wheels. I sat down hard, and rolled right into the table next to me, and slid rght into a perfect landing seated at the next table. The other occupants weren't amused, they just stared at me like I was crazy, I said something like Howdy, folks. Ok, I didn't get the job, but had a nice lunch once I figured out where to sit

My husband and I were dining out with friends (we were dating then) at a seafood restaurant. I ordered mussels marinara as an appetizer. They gave me an extra bowl for the shells. When I was done I put the shell bowl on top of the bowl with the sauce. When the waitress came to take away our dishes she took the top bowl off and the sauce dripped all over my friend's husband's pants. She was sorry right away. My friend had the nerve to ask the waitress for her name and number so she could send her the dry cleaning bill. I was mortified and told her it was no big deal it was an accident and to forget it which they did eventually after my husband said something to them. Ok another story same friend: Her and I and 2 other friends got together and took our moms out to brunch. It was buffet style all you can eat. After our meal was done I see her pull out a zip loc bag and go back to where the food was. She came back with about 10 shrimp, some raw carrots and celery. I asked her what she was doing. She said she was going to make her husband a stir fry for dinner later that day. OMG how tacky!!! needless to say we haven't been friend's with them since 2007 but not because of these stories. Oh and her husband (friend of hubby's since HS) when ever it came time to pay the check at a restaurant he would never get out his wallet. He would wait until my husband said "I'll treat". We never dined with them again. My husband can be generous at times when dining out with family and friend's and will offer to pay the bill sometimes. I guess her husband expected it since he did one other time.

I thought of another one, that isn't really embarrassing for me.. It should have been for the server.

Went to a Tony Roma's for lunch.. There were.. Probably 7 or 8 in our party, another table of probably 10 right behind me.. Server tried to carry too much.. I had a bowl of cole slaw and a plate of ribs dumped squarely on my head.

Luckily, for me, I almost always wear a hat.. While the hat was pretty much destroyed, all the mess wound up on the hat.

Another.. Corky's in Memphis.. Went there while I an another guy with our company were changing over a medical billing system for a doctors office out there.. Finished up our work, went to Corky's.. Got the dry rub ribs.. But, ordered a beer first.. They brought the bottle of beer, and the top was chipped.. Well, it grabbed and split my lip wide open.. I'm sitting there with napkins and everything with blood just pouring out of my lip.. Then ate the dry rub ribs.. Not fun whatsoever... The did comp my meal, tho.
