From your experience, out of 10 cupcake shops, how many of them will have good cupcakes?

For me, out of 10 cupcake shops, only 1 shop will have good cupcakes. I can't believe people are still opening up cupcake shops, this trend was over a long time ago. Sometimes I try a shop out thinking that maybe there's something special about them. Nope! Just mediocre cupcakes.

We have a cupcake store by our house, and there's never anyone there. Unfortunately they're right next to a Baskin Robbins.

I don't understand how cupcake shops can stand on their own. Unless you have some sort of artistic abilities with the fondant, they're just cupcake. They have way too much frosting, and the base/cake isn't satisfying.

I prefer muffins, they're a lot more versatile and filling.

muffins are sisters to the cupcake

the word cupcake is like the word bubbles or playdough

almost makes you smile saying it

there are no cupcake places around here,,,,, but it sounds like they are losing there shine-
the upside of a cupcake is you can eat it quickly with your hands , so the challenge is to appeal to all tastes- and they cant be 1000 calories each , make some healthy cupcakes..

whip up some veggie or fruit smoothies and make this part of your batter

and/or green tea cupcakes

and/or

make some cocktail cupcakes, like a mudslide/ daiquiri/ wine cupcakes (if legal)

if I had a cupcake place,,,id also be selling pies cupcakes and pies

then you could start having fun making all the pies we all love, by the whole or by the slice and also chicken/turkey pies,,, of different sizes

yep, I like pie

Get most of my pastries and baked goods, that we dont make, from a local Dutch bakery. Yup they got cupcakes. I would never go to a cupcake shop specifically.

I'd rather have a big slab of cake, than a puny cupcake!

The problem with cupcakes is that they dry out really fast. So a cupcake shop would have to be selling a lot in order to have them fresh. Cupcakes are best eaten within 3 or 4 hours of being baked.

I have been dragged to a number of cupcake shops. Most of the cupcakes are pretty decent BUT the icing to cake ratio is generally way too high.

However, why do I want to pay $3.50-4.00 for one small cupcake when I can get a nice slab of cake at many general bakeries or supermarkets for $1.99?

We have one nearby and I actually just like their icing shooters. Kids love their cupcakes. Bailey cream for one and key lime for the other. It's a chain i think, SAS.
