I only eat bacos when they are provided at down-market salad bars with those perfectly cubed croutons, thousand-island dressing, shredded mild cheddar and chickpeas.

When i was in Missouri, that's exactly what was offered at the Iron Skillet next to the Ozarks Superstore. One of the locals was complaining to me about the poor quality of the salad bar ("these hard-boiled eggs have been frozen!"), and I kind of bit my tongue in half so I didn't respond with "It's an Iron Skillet salad bar in the effin' Ozarks!" I just drowned my slightly wilted iceberg lettuce in thousand island dressing and liberally dumped on the bacos.

I don't think they taste like actual bacon, but in a salad, I like the crunch of the Bacos better. Unless it's a fresh spinach salad with hot bacon on it, but that's not happening for a lunch I pack to take to work!

I just checked and can't find them at Walmart or Publix. I wonder what happened? I like real bacon bits so I will use those but they don't have the happy crunch of Bacos.

Also, kids love Bacos and anything that gets them to eat salad is a big plus.

Bacos is NOT Bacon, they are artificially flavored crunchy pieces of whatever that is to put on salads and in soups if you want. They are all fake, pretty disgusting and in my opinion, which is my opinion alone and does not include anyone else, it is not a first world crisis if Bacos disappeared forever.

Bacos are vegetarian. Or at least they aren't made of meat. I don't think anyone quite knows what they are made of.

I never said it was bacon, I thought it was a typo at first.

I've seen them on salad bars. I am not a big salad person preferring simple Caesar or plain spinach salads. But I can see others liking them for a crunch.

Why don't you just grill up some real bacon?

I love bacos. No shortage here.

It's a soy product.

Bac~Os? I haven't seen those in years. I didn't know that they were still being made.
