Note: macaroons are made with coconut. French macarons are made from ground almonds.

Yes! I love almost anything coconut, and macaroons are a family favorite whenever cookies are served.

I am not crazy about shredded coconut so I can take or leave macaroons. Let's put it this way I won't purchase them and given a choice over them for just about any other cookie, the other cookie wins.

It wouldn't be Easter/Passover without them.

Yummy. I do like them. I have a good recipe. Although mine do not keep, they are only good fresh.

I love French macaroons as well, it's hard to find good ones around here though. I have to be in a certain mood though because I generally don't like sweets, but every now and then I can't help it and I go to the nearest best deli and get some! I could eat them all day when I get in those moods!

Have you tried flaked coconut? I like it much better that way than shredded.

When I was a kid in the Fifties my mom was a working mom and rarely baked. I remember that she'd sometimes have a box of American-style macaroons made by a famous cake company on the pantry shelf. I think all you had to do was add water.

I wasn't even aware of the French macarons until a trip to the State Fair a couple of years ago. How very pretty and Spring-like they look!

Now that I'm retired I've been making a lot of baked items I never learned how to do during my busy days and macarons are on my list.
